The Faculty of Science and Engineering are looking for Peer Mentors for the next academic year – could this be you?
The deadline for applications from the following disciplines has been extended: Computing and Digital Technology, Chemistry, Engineering, and Environmental and Geographical Sciences.

What is a Peer Mentor?
Peer Mentors support new students to settle into life at Manchester Met during the start of their first year at university, using your own knowledge and experience of university life to provide guidance and support.
As a Peer Mentor you will have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of activities, such as planning a social activity for induction week, assisting students with identifying relevant support services and the potential to also deliver workshops.
Why be a Peer Mentor?
Successful applicants will receive a full day’s training to allow you to feel confident about what the role involves, including skills training for supporting your peers.
It is a great way to develop your employability skills too. Whether you are considering a similar supporting role after university, or looking to enhance your leadership and communication skills, the role offers the opportunity to experience varied responsibilities that will be a great addition to your CV.
Did we mention the role is paid? During your training you will be paid at the standard Jobs4Students pay rate which is £8.40 (£7.50 hourly rate + £0.90 holiday pay). After this you will be paid at the higher Jobs4Students pay rate which is £9.24 (£8.25 hourly rate + £0.99 holiday pay).
When and Where Will the Work be Taking Place?
Training for the role will take place at the end of May and the successful applicants will need to be available for contact via email over the summer break. The first date of your work on campus will be during induction weekend (the 16th and 17th September).
