Aldi is one of the fastest growing retailers in the UK, with over 650 stores. Aldi has ambitious growth plans and has a variety of graduate and placement opportunities throughout the UK.
What roles do you have on offer for students and graduates?
Aldi has graduate vacancies for Area Managers who provide clear direction and leadership to a retail management team. Area Managers are expected to instill confidence, demand excellence and provide continuous motivation to achieve objectives with their store teams.
No other graduate programme offers so much responsibility so quickly, and training covers the complete spectrum of management, from store operations, trading, financial administration, logistics and property management. After a year, you will be expected to be a fully functioning Area Manager, and responsible for 3-5 stores. The starting salary is £42,000 rising to £70,000 after 4 years, and benefits include an Audi A4 company car, pension scheme, private healthcare, life assurance and 5 weeks holiday, as well as significant progression opportunities, including international secondments, within the business.
Aldi’s Industrial Placement Scheme is structured to allow candidates to experience some of the key elements of a career in retail. Over a one year period, students will be involved in store operations, logistics, trading and financial administration. The initial, and longest, phase of the placement takes place in store operations, experiencing everything from stacking shelves to shadowing a Store Manager. Candidates then move on to logistics, trading and financial administration.
How should students prepare for the fair?
Candidates interested in a career at Aldi should do their research into the business and how it operates, as well as the graduate and placement schemes, so that they’re able to ask relevant questions to Aldi representatives on the day.
