FDM Women in IT networking evening, 17th April, 6pm-8pm

As a female in the IT industry or studying a technical or related subject, you are most probably aware that there is a server lack of women in the computing sector. FDM’s ‘Women in IT’ campaign is dedicated to encouraging women into, and supporting them through their careers in this male-dominated sector.

This event will include talks from two guest speakers, both highly successful within the industry:

Dr Takruri-Rizk is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing, Science and Engineering at Salford University and has spent the last 17 years researching and promoting science, engineering and technology to females. Also speaking will be RECLAIM Project Co-ordinator, Abi Robertson. RECLAIM is a project supporting young people, often from disadvantaged backgrounds in the North West, to grow in confidence, self belief, and make positive changes working towards building themselves a better future. Abi will be discussing the work RECLAIM is currently doing and how this will affect women in the community.

Following the talks there will be a networking session where you will get the opportunity to meet other females in the IT industry and also FDM’s appointed Female Champions, who work to support and mentor the many women working in computing roles at FDM, as well as encouraging other women to pursue careers in the industry.

In addition, if you are interested in an IT career our Recruitment Consultants will be on hand to discuss with you the opportunities FDM have and offer some valuable advice about how to get into, and succeed, in the industry.

Refreshments will be provided and the event is free to attend. However, you must book to secure a place and receive further information.
